Rock ‘n’ Roll High School, the classic B-movie featuring The Ramones, premiered 40 years ago this past August.  In honor of the milestone, a deluxe Blu-ray version of the film will be released November 19.

The 40th anniversary edition of Rock ‘n’ Roll High School will come packaged in a collectible steelbook and will feature a variety of as-yet-unannounced bonus features.

The film stars Halloween and Stripes actress P.J. Soles as Riff Randell, a Ramones-loving student at Vince Lombardi High School who’s trying to score tickets to an upcoming local show by the legendary punk-rock group. Meanwhile, Randell and her fellow students must deal with the oppressive rules of the rock ‘n’ roll-hating Principal Togar, portrayed by Mary Woronov of Eating Raoul fame.  Riff eventually enlists the band to help free the school kids from Togar’s tyranny.

Rock ‘n’ Roll High School‘s cast also included Vincent Van Patten, Dey Young, Clint Howard and Paul Bartel. The movie was directed by Allan Arkush and executive-produced by B-movie giant Roger Corman.

The movie includes a multiple-song performance by The Ramones shot live at the famed Sunset Strip venue, The Roxy. The film’s soundtrack also featured studio versions of a couple Ramones tunes, as well as songs by Alice Cooper, Brownsville Station, Todd Rundgren, Chuck Berry, Nick Lowe, Devo and more.
