ABC/Image Group LA“Oh Yeah!” indeed.

Green Day‘s latest single, a cut from the punk trio’s new album Father of All…, has reached the number-one spot on Billboard‘s Rock Airplay chart, tying the record for the act with the most leaders on the tally.

“Oh Yeah!,” which samples Joan Jett, gives Green Day six Rock Airplay chart-toppers. That matches the mark set by Foo Fighters.

Interestingly, Green Day was the first artist to ever reach #1 on the Rock Airplay chart, which measures radio spins across rock radio stations. When it first launched in 2009, it was their song “Know Your Enemy” ruled the ranking.

Father of All… was released in February. Its title track also led the Rock Airplay chart.

Meanwhile, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong‘s new cover of “I Think We’re Alone Now” by Tommy James and the Shondells made its debut on the Hot Rock Songs and Adult Pop Songs chart. Armstrong has been releasing covers each week amid the COVID-19 pandemic “until we’re let back into the world.”
