Billie Joe Armstrong, Slash, Joan Jett & more pay tribute to late NYC punk style fixture Jimmy Webb

Gonzalo Marroquin/Getty Images for Mae McKagan Fall/Winter 2019 Capsule CollectionA host of rock artists have shared tributes to the late Jimmy Webb, a fixture of the New York City punk scene. According to Rolling Stone, Webb died of cancer Tuesday at age 62.

Webb was the manager at the East Village clothing store Trash and Vaudeville, and helped style musicians including Iggy Pop, Joan Jett, Debbie Harry and Duff McKagan. Several of those artists and many others offered their thoughts on Webb’s passing. Here are a few of the tributes:

Green Day‘s Billie Joe Armstrong: “This is a heart breaker. Jimmy you are a treasure of New York. Always a positive energy. You Always lived out loud. Rest In Peace.”

Joan Jett: “Our friend, Jimmy Webb, a legend and a St. Marks St. legend, stylist of the punks, famous and not, has passed. I’m so very sad and we’ll all miss your energetic, warm soul. The city will not be the same without you.”

Slash: “We lost a great rock n roll human being today, Jimmy you will be sorely missed. As you are so loved so much by so many, you will live on in our hearts forever. You are truly one of a kind. & there will never be another like you. A perfect storm of love, joy, tragedy, grit, RnR & soul, the world is a lesser place in your absence. RIP Jimmy. Give em hell!”

Debbie Harry: “We love you Jimmy.”

Duff McKagan: “My pal…the sweetest man and pure punk f***ing rock n roll. Jimmy has SUCH a story, and my family and I feel honored and loved to be a small part of his triumphant tale. We love you Jimmy…we will miss you brother.”

Alice Cooper: “Rest In Peace Jimmy Webb, a true New York Rock n roll original. We always looked forward to seeing Jimmy at Trash And Vaudeville and more recently his own store @ixneedxmore. NY won’t be the same without you Jimmy! Love from the Coops.”

E Street Band‘s Steven Van Zandt: “RIP Jimmy. Rock and Roll will miss you. An absolute one of a kind legend.”
