Courtesy of AXS TVThe fifth season of the Sammy Hagar-hosted AXS TV series Rock & Roll Road Trip premieres this Sunday, April 19, at 8:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. PT with an episode that finds the Red Rocker traveling to Sin City to hang with Def Leppard and NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal.

Hagar tells ABC Audio that the latest season of his reality show is “really great,” noting, “I’m getting to meet all kinds of tripped-out people…as well as [getting] to jam with [a lot of] these guys.”

Speaking about jamming, this Sunday’s episode features Sammy visiting Def Leppard during their 2019 Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood, where he teams up with the British rockers for a rehearsal performance of “Bad Motor Scooter,” a classic 1973 tune by Hagar’s old group Montrose.

The Red Rocker also sits down with Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott to chat about the group’s long and successful career, among other topics.

Another highlight of the episode is Hagar’s conversation with Shaq, which takes place at the basketball great’s Vegas eatery Big Chicken.

“[W]alking in a room with Shaq was…unbelievable. I mean, that guy is so big,” Sammy declares. “It’s like, he could’ve put my head in his hand and picked me up.

Despite his gargantuan stature, Sammy notes that O’Neal was “the sweetest person.”

“I can’t believe what a nice guy he was,” he adds. “At first, he intimidated me, and then once we got past all that, he was so complimentary, and he knew all about me.”

Hagar says that an aspect he loves about Rock & Roll Road Trip is getting to interview the guests in his own unique way.

“I…go there and ask what I want to know, and then it leads into other things,” he explains.
