What will Congress be doing for the rest of the year now that the presidential nominations are all but sewn up and campaigning becomes the top priority?

Congressman Bill Huizenga tells us it will be tough for Congress to tackle anything of importance.

When it comes to the big issues, do I think that there’s going to be a big border solution? No. Do I think that there could be an aid package? That might be the only sort of area that we see and somewhere. It’s going to have elements of four things: Israel, Taiwan, Ukraine, and the southern border.”

Huizenga says any aid package has to come with accountability and transparency. He says too many members of the House have complaints.

There’s problems with the UN. We’ve seen that in Gaza, but we’ve seen it in Afghanistan. We’ve seen it in other places. There’s problems with transparency. There’s problems with trackability, and we’ve got to get better at that.”

Huizenga says one thing that helps is a recent European Union move to provide $50 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine. He says with the EU taking care of that, Congress might be more comfortable with simply providing military aid.
