You know it’s almost summer as Mackinac Island is opening for the season today.

Steph Castelein is with the Mackinac Island Tourism Bureau and talked about how things are going.

We are so looking forward to another wonderful season,” Castelein said. “I rode the ferry yesterday over and it’s getting busier with seasonal workers coming back, summer residents coming back, and just this excitement that happens this time of the year is unmatched.”

Castelein says the Inn at Stonecliff will reopen this summer after two years of renovations.

Castelein adds the island is the Fudge Capital of the world with 10,000 pounds of Michigan sugar arriving on the island every week and 13 fudge shops downtown.
