Berrien County voters will have a host of school ballot proposals to consider when they head to the polls to vote next week.

Several school districts are asking for bonds.

St. Joseph Public Schools is seeking $98 million for a variety of building improvements as well as technology and school bus purchases. That would mean a 2.56 mill levy in 2024 for a 1.95 mill increase over last year’s levy.

Lakeshore Public Schools is seeking a renewal of its sinking fund, which pays for building repairs and maintenance. That’s 1.47 mills.

Coloma Community Schools is asking for two bonds. One would be $11.9 million for a replacement of the old Alwood gym and playground. It would mean a 0.85 mill levy. The other bond is $12.4 million for building improvements and would mean a 0.9 mill levy.

Finally, Brandywine Public Schools is seeking a $22 million bond for school facility upgrades. It would result in a 0.7 mill levy.

The election will be Tuesday. You can learn more about the proposals right here.

Note: a previous elections story we published stated some of these votes will be in August. They’re actually next Tuesday.
