An Eaton County man is dead following a crash in Berrien County on Wednesday.

The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department says deputies responded to the scene at the intersection of Bainbridge Center Road and Territorial in Bainbridge Township around 7:20 a.m. on a report of a car versus moped crash.

Deputies arrived to learn the moped driven by a 44-year-old Eaton County man had been southbound on Bainbridge Center Road and failed to stop for a stop sign. It was then struck by an eastbound Chevy Tahoe driven by a 47-year-old Benton Harbor woman.

The driver of the moped was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver and passenger of the Chevy Tahoe were both unhurt. Police say the driver of the moped was not wearing a helmet.

The crash remains under investigation.
