Voters in Southwest Michigan continue to take advantage of early in-person voting for the upcoming general election. Over 12,000 ballots have been cast already since last Saturday in Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren counties.
Berrien County clerk Sharon Tyler told us they have stayed very busy since early in-person voting started.
“Right now, as of yesterday’s end total, we had a total of 6,840 voters. Compared to two elections of August and February of four days, we had 549.”
As of Wednesday morning, Berrien County has seen a 28.5% voter turnout with absentee and early voting. A total of 6,885 ballots have been cast during early voting, and 25,308 absentee ballots returned.
In Cass County, 3,144 ballots have been cast during early voting, and 6,793 absentee ballots have been returned for a 26.5% voter turnout.
Van Buren County has seen the lowest voter turnout in Southwest Michigan so far, with 2,737 ballots cast during early voting and 11,361 absentee ballots returned.
Remember early voting continues through Sunday, Nov. 3. You can register to vote up until election day at 8 p.m. Contact your local city or township clerk to be eligible to vote in this election.
