I-196 in Van Buren County is officially open.
The Michigan Department of Transportation announced Wednesday they are wrapping up work for the winter on the Rogers Creek box culvert replacement under I-196, and all lanes are now reopen.
MDOT spokesperson Nick Schirripa tells us they are now preparing for next year’s work, which will be to complete the culvert under the northbound lanes.
“We’re looking at kind of a mid-March to late-October construction schedule for 2025. We’re going to place the culvert under the northbound lanes, and that will be done.”
The new culvert will improve natural creek flow. The three-year, $9.2 million project is anticipated to be complete by late October 2025.
