The Cars' Elliot Easton to perform at L.A.-area charity concert paying tribute to The Lovin' Spoonful

Wild Honey PresentsCars guitarist Elliot Easton is among the many musicians who will help pay tribute to the influential 1960s pop-rock group The Lovin’ Spoonful at a charity concert scheduled for February 29 at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, California.

Easton, Smithereens drummer Dennis Diken and various other artists will perform with the event’s house band: The Wild Honey Orchestra, a rotating collective of Los Angeles-area musicians. A number of to-be-announced guest singers also will take part in the event.

The show will feature renditions of more than 30 Lovin’ Spoonful songs, including classics like “Do You Believe in Magic,” “Summer in the City,” “You Didn’t Have to Be So Nice” and “Darling Be Home Soon.”

The concert will raise funds for the Autism Think Tank, a non-profit organization that brings together top specialists via an online conference to work on solutions to issues faced by young people with autism.

Tickets for the event will go on sale to the general public this Friday, December 11, at the Alex Theatre’s box office and AlexTheatre.org. Pre-sale tickets will be available starting Wednesday, December 11. You can check out some pre-sale packages by visiting GoFundMe.com.

During the last few years, The Wild Honey Orchestra has staged a variety of tribute concerts to raise money for the charity, including concerts celebrating the music of The Beatles, The Kinks, Big Star, The Band and Buffalo Springfield.
